Beautiful Katamari Encompasses PS3, Wii; Eternal Sonata Serenading PS3
by Chris Faylor, Sep 11, 2007 9:00am PDTRecent updates to two of Namco's official game pages likely hint at some of the company's forthcoming Tokyo Game Show announcements. After Beautiful Katamari was announced for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 version dropped off the radar and Namco refused to comment on the matter. Going by the game's official site though, the PlayStation 3 version is still in production, alongside the oft-rumored but never confirmed Wii edition.
Formerly an Xbox 360 exclusive, Eternal Sonata is apparently headed to PlayStation 3 as well. Developed by tri-Crescendo, the RPG explores the possible tuberculosis-induced hallucinations composer Chopin experienced while on his deathbed. It's also one of the most gorgeous efforts to come out of any development studio thus far; its in-game assets easily mistaken for a cartoon or a pre-rendered cinematic. As Eternal Sonata doesn't ship in North America until next week, though Namco's official site lists it as being available now, it's theorized that the page was updated a bit early, thus giving away some of the announcements from this week's Tokyo Game Show. Shacknews has contacted Namco for more information.

I can't fathom a reason to buy for one over the other aside from the fact that clearly Sonata will be out on the 360 first, and achievements.
I feel kinda bad, but all other things being equal, there's never a reason for me to buy the PS3 version of a game if the 360 one is available.

(My friend says it's never mentioned in Euro release schedules, and the demo still isn't in the Euro marketplace. Something odd going on there.)
