No Online Guitar Hero 3 Wii at Release, Aerosmith Edition Reportedly in Production
by Chris Faylor, Sep 05, 2007 8:50am PDTContrary to claims made during Nintendo's E3 2007 press conference, the Wii edition of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will not feature online multiplayer when it arrives this October. "There won't be online initially for the Wii," RedOctane president and co-founder Kai Huang revealed to Pro-G, "but we are working with Nintendo to see how we can get those features in." Other Guitar Hero tidbits include Billboard's report of an entry in the series "dedicated" to Aerosmith and Rolling Stone's confirmation that Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello will join Guns N' Roses veteran Slash and Poison singer Bret Michaels as one of the boss characters in Guitar Hero III. Over 35 tracks have been announced for the game thus far, including master track recordings from bands such as Guns N' Roses, The Strokes, Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Muse, and Weezer. Published by Activision subsidiary RedOctane, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is being developed on Wii by Vicarious Visions, with Budcat on the PlayStation 2 iteration. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions--the only two that will have online multiplayer at release--are being handled by Neversoft.

Wii version clearly has the NWF logo on the Box and the DVD case and it's also listed as one of the features
"Rock Out Online Or Party Offline
Defeat opponents to achieve legendary status in head-to-head competition including the all new guitar battle or share the glory with a friend in the new co-op career mode."
:)
i dont know how they think it's supposed to work, but why is is so difficult for Nintendo to help developpers include such a thing as online play. it's not like it's anything new or difficult, they just don't care ?

quite frankly, I've found half the fun of online play comes from the voice chat.
Who am I kidding? I'm buying this the second it is out for my Wii.
