Sam & Max Season Two Unveiled
by Chris Remo, Aug 28, 2007 5:41pm PDTFreelance police Sam & Max are back for another season of episodic adventuring, developer Telltale Games has officially confirmed. It was known that the company would return for another round with the duo, but today marks the first release of new assets. Specific plot points from the first episode, due out this fall, were not discussed, but Telltale did reveal a list of features planned for the upcoming season: a new driving game with an upgradeable car, mini-games for each episode, a character-based hint system, and more dynamic NPCs. Hard-bitten private eye Flint Paper, a recurring character from Steve Purcell's Sam & Max comics, can also be briefly seen in the cinematic trailer released today. More information regarding Season Two, which again partners with online game service GameTap, will be released soon.

I looked at the GameTap support page and some limited version of it is available outside of US/Canada but it really isn't clear (a) which countries it is available in and (b) what the limitations mean. You can't buy a Gold account but what is a Gold account? Here's what it says on the support site:
* International users, outside of US and Canada, can play Free games in the Lite Player in solo mode. This does not require a TapID.
* To play games in the Deluxe Player or to participate in the community features (posting in forums, playing online Challenge games, IM in Deluxe, etc), you need to sign-up for a free TapID (free Green account).
* Users in any one of the 14 countries certified for Myst Online: Uru Live can register for a TapID (free Green account).
* Users with a TapID can play all of the free games in both the Lite and Deluxe Players.
* Gold memberships are not available outside the US and Canada. Yet.

The trailer was put together by the art department after they discovered that they had a few spare weeks in between Season One and Season Two, and decided to show off a bit.

I hope that the U.S. military insignia on the robot at the end of the trailer was a reference to that....
