New screenshots from Gearbox's sci-fi FPS/RPG hybrid Borderlands (PC, PS3, X360) have been released, depicting armored soldiers with Killzone-esque eyes, a sniper overseeing a vast landscape, and an enormous vehicular earth saw apparently modeled after real-life heavy excavators.

I don't see anything to get excited about here. What I DO see are a handful of "staged" screen shots using Unreal Engine 3. I'm willing to bet there's not an ounce of game play behind these shots. Meh...

Stalker sequel shots from E3 showed one of these off already - man I haven't met a level designer who didn't have a hard-on for that machine, about time it showed up someplace, er, two places.

Not to be a nit picky ass-- oh wait I am. That excavator vehicle looks incredibly disproportioned.

There's this HUGE excavating wheel on the end and it's supported by some horribly undersized booms and pulleys. And I'm not a big fan of the lack of detail on the wheel part as well.

I'm sure it looks better in movement, but that's a pretty underwhelming screenshot.

It could just be me though, especially after seeing something more properly to scale in the WiC beta (pretty sure that was something similar to the concept photos on the wikipedia links)
