Guitar Hero III Controllers, Subtitle Unveiled

15
Publisher Activision this week released CG renders of the Gibson-licensed guitar peripherals to be manufactured for Neversoft's upcoming Guitar Hero III, which has been officially subtitled Legends of Rock. The game is in the works for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.

Each current-generation platform has its own slightly different white controller styled after Gibson's iconic Les Paul guitar. Notably, the Wii controller has a slot into which a Wii remote is inserted; it also has an analog stick, suggesting it contains built-in nunchuk functionality as well. Similarly, the PS3 and Xbox 360 guitars each carry features drawn from their systems' respective standard controllers. Providing some variety, the black PlayStation 2 guitar is based not on the Les Paul but on a recognizable design from Gibson-owned brand Kramer.

Different faceplates will be offered for the guitars. No details were released regarding pricing or availability of the guitars or faceplates.

News of Guitar Hero III's controllers comes just weeks after Electronic Arts and Harmonix released photographs of its Fender Stratocaster-based peripherals.

Activision and RedOctane plan to ship Neversoft's Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock this fall.
