Legendary: The Box Announced
by Maarten Goldstein, Jul 09, 2007 1:35pm PDTCall of Duty: Finest Hour developer Spark Unlimited today announced it has signed a publishing deal with Gamecock for its upcoming fantasy shooter Legendary: The Box. In Legendary: The Box, players assume the role of Charles Deckard, an art thief who is asked to steal Pandora's Box. Upon opening the box, Deckard unleashes mythical creatures such as werewolves on modern day society. Combatting those creatures as well as other forces, it's up to Deckard to once again close the box. "Like most developers, we've always had a dream game that we've secretly been working on," said Craig Allen, CEO of Spark Unlimited. "We've made a name for ourselves with World War II first-person shooters, but Legendary: The Box is our labor of love. It's a thrill to work with Gamecock; they want to see the game completed exactly as we envision it." Legendary: The Box is set for release on PC and next-generation consoles next spring. A first set of screenshots can be found here. There's a teaser trailer with gameplay footage on FileShack. Spark Unlimited is also currently working on Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, an alternate history World War 2 shooter for Codemasters.

In the screenshots, I see another human with a gun, shooting at the monsters. Is this just an NPC, or could this indicate co-op? Co-op would set this game apart, as there hasn't been much good coming from Croteam lately, and PCF failed to bring co-op.

Odd name, Deckard. Does it even exist outside of fantasy/sci-fi?

I'm sorry, this premise is gooftastic. Sure it's not another modern day shoort or WW2 themed railfest, I'm just not sure this could ever be popular.
