say what you want but the 2142 team said they'd stay on the game and not let it turn into a mess like BF2 and they've kept their word (so far).

hopefully EA will continue paying them to keep the game updated and tweaked.

They should do a quick remake of 1942 with the BF2/2142 engine, I know there are mods in the works for BF2 but they're taking too long.

Although it doesn't have a profound effect on the perception of general gameplay, the fact that damage goes down over distance, helps to make it a lot more fun. Although you can still headshot someone with the special zooming scope and a sniper rifle, you're not going to get blasted by general weapons while standing in the middle of nowhere from an enemy you'll never see/be able to defend against.
