  • Judging by the general malaise exhibited from gamers towards this game, I'd guess we have another Auto Assault on our hands, ladies and gentlemen. Eventually these MMORPG designers will realize that it's time to jump on a new genre bandwagon. Well one would hope, anyway, or perhaps they'll just continue like lemmings on their fatalistic path, constantly cranking out repetitive, unsuccessful MMOs one after the other while each of them flops and they eventually grow broke from failing to add something worthwhile to our PC gaming industry. You know what they say about history...

  • wow the FPS is BAD in this video. I would assume they are showing this on their best system and yet it really runs really bad in open areas (which appears to be most of the game).

Also the more I see and hear about this game, the more it reminds me of Star Wars Galaxies. Both had cool features and ideas, but Galaxies ended up having poor execution. The graphics are very uninspiring in both. The character design is just very flat and generic. The world is very bland looking with the design being bumpy terrain with buildings seemingly dropped in with little design around them to indicate civilization. Galaxies had the same issue, where exploring was not really appealing due to the sameness of the entire world. Visiting exotic areas was a let down as the models were very bland.

Vanguard has some neat ideas, but after watching that video, I just was not inspired at all. To quote the above preview:
The ambitious nature of Vanguard means a potential to sacrifice polish for content. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but Vanguard may lose some gamers at early levels.
