AMD Finishes ATI Acquisition

Tech Report has a couple of press releases from AMD, announcing that it has completed its $5.4 billion acquisition of ATI. Wasting no time, the company also announced plans for Fusion processors - CPU/GPU hybrid chips. Fusion processors are expected in late 2008 or early 2009.

Don't get graphics on die. Seems like compromise to me. GPU + CPU area will be too big and cost too high. So for same area...either you gotta scale down CPU or GPU. Seems like a compromise. But I'm guessing there are a lot more smarter things to be done. Shall be interesting.
