Postal 3 Announced

Running With Scissors sends along this press release, announcing that Postal 3 is in development for PC and Xbox 360. The latest installment in the "dark comedic" videogame franchise will be powered by Valve's Source Engine, and is scheduled for release some time in 2008. "We've always maintained since publishing the original POSTAL that the game is only as violent as the player wants it to be and we're committed to expanding this unique form of gameplay in this next addition to the ongoing storyline".

YES! this makes me happy. I was one of the few people who actually enjoyed postal 2 quite a bit. Yeah the production values were terrible and there were many bugs, but I really liked the concept of an open world first person shooter. It was a large sandbox to play around in and explore, and you could use some pretty interesting weapons and do some crazy things. Hopefully with the source engine and a larger team(hopefully better writers) they can make into something even bigger and better that will expand on their original concepts.

Honestly - does anyone out there actually like the Postal games? I know they push the boundaries of what's acceptable, free speech martyrs, yadda yadda yadda but - I've always thought the games themselves were complete shit, both in terms of technical prowess and in execution.

The second game would have been great if they had fixed the super long load times between areas that seemed to happen every 3 minutes, and the downright terrible weapon performance. I'm pretty sure I used the shotgun for most of the game.

The concept of postal might be a good one if they would get some talent behind it. Postal 1 & 2 were very poor in production quality.

Whacko Jacko-T will have a (hopefully fatal) aneurysm when that hits the streets; reason enough to want to see it made. I personally and unapologeticlly liked P2 but more as a vehicle for comedy delivery than as the mediocre shooter it was.
