Sure, bf1942 was a fun game, but it had a lot of problems, including horrible infantry combat and terrible bugs, with a few dodgy gameplay designs (musical bases anyone?)
BF2 was just 1942 set in the 'near-futur!' but stunningly it still had poor infantry combat (it was better, but still painfull), horribly overpowered vehicles and even more bugs. Musical bases was back, and 10x worse. The shitty patch cycle didnt really help, with one recalled patch and another patch that really should have been recalled as well.
Now we have 2142, which is again 1942 but now in the 'distant-futur!' but has the same stale musical bases, one or two things ripped directly from other games and again infantry combat is horribly jerky and unrewarding. Judging from the beta, its also going to be chock full of bugs and have even more booster packs.
I hope EA kills them off quickly. BF is dead to me now, sadly. And unless they manage to pull out a miraculous save with the next one (2142?) then I cant see people really flocking to it like they have in the past.

My prediction : a graphical overhaul of BF1942 is next on the plate.

we just gotta wait til gfx cant improve no more so ea cant bring out rehashes of old games with beefed up gfx nad minor gameplay changes
then they wil have to actaully think harder "what can we make gameplay better with"
unlike the probable thoughts now at ea, how much money can we wring from these titles, deosnt matter if its destroying some of their titles credibilitys on the way
cause money makes the world go round and they just buy out another company
wonder if anyone actually has a brainstorming session meetings at ea, and after hours and hours they come up with just adding the current year to the game title
ill stop now
