Seems that GA-Source did some of that "confirming rumors" stuff that some "press" do to get "facts." Pshaw! Anyway, they got a confirmation from 3dfx's Brian Burke that there were indeed layoffs and that most were spun off to the Specialized Technology Group, which is a division of 3dfx. He didn't confirm my numbers though, which is to be expected given the timing of the layoffs (within hours of the fiscal year ending). By the way, in my numbers when I said 5% of the 20%, I meant, like, 5% of the company, not 1% (whoops). Also, that 5% wasn't necessarily from STB, there were people laid off that were there pre-STB as well.

  • Ever notice how many lame sites become unlame once they simply add a decent level of interactivity? Must be the increased community spread\'n the word (and click\'n more ads). It\'s still no substitute for content, but being able to talk back, in realtime, or via forum, threaded, flat, whatever, adds a lot to a site ESPECIALLY if you don\'t have to fuck\'n \"register\" with each and every one of them.

Slashdot - News for Nerds. Stuff that matters.
Shugashack - News for Gamers. Stuff that\'s made for smacktalk which doesn\'t usually involve the politics, programming, unix, and other stuff that\'s just a bit too nerdy for most users in our demographic age group.
