i've never played jagged Alliance. Can you describe how the first two played out and what they were like?

It's like playing turnbased Fallout with a Team of mercs you hire, choose and equip yourself. The highpoints of these games is how these mercs interact with each other. Some don't like to work together etc.. Your objective is to turn over a opressive government by taking over sectors of their land.

Yup, a classic - I just played it last year and it was great (I had played and enjoyed a previous version years ago).

"TCancer: Why won't JA3D have a strategic overlay? How is a mission-based structure more appropriate?

GFI: From the very outset, SFI decided Jagged Alliance 3D to be mission-based. It was presumed that Jagged Alliance 3 would be the next game in Jagged Alliance series whereas JA3D is just a 3D-game set in this popular universe."

:( the freedom of JA2 is what made it a great game.

That, and the fact that you love (or love to hate) all your mercs.. I must have completed this game 5 or 6 times. This is probably the game closest to my heart.
