Considering that the original Quake turns 10 years old this year, will there be a Quakeworld tournament? You can download a modern client for free from here:
http://www.fteqw.com/

It contains a builtin server browser, as well as interface and eyecandy improvements. Still the same classic game though.

Is it really that hard for people to get off of work?

I mean seriously, I've never heard of a place that required more than a week or two notice of vacation, except for super busy times like Christmas or 4th of July. If you need to give more than 40 days notice to get vacation time, you really need a new job.

School I can understand, but you wouldn't be able to take off of school even if you knew a year ago.

It just sounds like excuses to me
