9

FiringSquad is reporting that Driver is the latest videogame franchise to get a big screen adaptation. Writing and directing the pic will be Roger Avary. Avery recently wrote the screenplay for the Silent Hill movie, and has also directed movies like The Rules of Attraction and Killing Zoe. It's unknown when production will start.

Hollywood must be really hard up for ideas, because that would just make a pathetic movie.

Agreed. It's not even like that series is THAT big.

I haven't played it since Driver 1 but isn't it also really generic in terms of plot, setting and characters? Good enough as the background for a game, to give you a vague reason to drive around, but not the kind of thing that seems worth licencing for a movie.

Maybe things changed later in the series or I just can't remember the incredible story and characterisation in Drive 1 because it's so old.
