Sunday Evening New Releases and ShackReviews

27
Hey, a new release explosion this week. There's some game called Oblivion coming out, I think a few of you might be interested in that. I've seen a post or two, maybe a video here or there.

I'll be out of town the whole week for GDC, so it's portable gaming all the way for me. And that means Metroid Prime Hunters (DS). I've been looking forward to this game for quite some time now, and I'm even more excited now that I know it has a Prime-length single player component.

That Blazing Angels game looks interesting, though I've heard practically nothing about it. Hopefully it's good; there's a distinct shortage of good combat flight sims these days.

Did anyone else play SimTower (PC) back about ten years or so when it was released? I really enjoyed that game. My assumption was always that it was by Will Wright and Maxis, just like most of the other Sim games, but it turns out it was actually designed by Yoot Saito. Saito is the rather unique (some say eccentric) designer behind Seaman (DC). He and his studio Vivarium are also working on the upcoming Yoot Saito's Odama (GCN), the crazy strategy/pinball/hamburgers game. The sequel to SimTower was called Yoot Saito's Yoot Tower (PC), which I think is pretty hilarious. Anyway, this week Sega is releasing a remake of SimTower for Game Boy Advance, entitled The Tower SP. I might have to check that out if the price is right.

Featured ShackReviews:
  • Masem is all alone this week, with the only review. He gave impressions of Sonic Team's The Rub Rabbits! (DS).

Finally finished Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS) soon after posting last week's New Release list. Once again, that last case was incredible. I also played a few rounds of Burnout Revenge 360 yesterday, but other than that I didn't have much time for games this week. Oh well!

I hope the multiplayer setup of Metroid Prime Hunters is better than Mario Kart...

I have a feeling it will be worth the hassle. I'm going to bet that wifi Metroid Prime: Hunters should be MUCH better than Mario Kart.
