My girlfriend is getting a Apple laptop for art school and she's wondering which one to get: the Powerbook G4 or the MacBook Pro.
I've read that software like Photoshop don't run as well on the new Macbook Pro due to the new processor, but that new software created for it is coming out in the near future. Should she plan ahead and get the new technology or stick with the old standard?
Thanks for the help.

U.S. trade deficit hits all-time high
The U.S. trade deficit soared to an all-time high of $725.8 billion in 2005, pushed upward by record imports of oil, food, cars and other consumer goods. The deficit with China hit an all-time high as did America's deficits with Japan, Europe, OPEC, Canada, Mexico and South and Central America.
The Commerce Department reported Friday that the gap between what America sells abroad and what it imports rose to $725.8 billion last year, up by 17.5 percent from the previous record of $617.6 billion set in 2004.
It marked the fourth consecutive year that America's trade deficit has set a record and was certain to spark increased debate in Congress over President Bush's trade policies. Since mid-2000 the country has lost nearly 3 million manufacturing jobs and Democrats blame the administration's policy of emphasizing free trade agreements. (emphasis mine)
If you don't know or aren't certain why a growing trade deficit, lack of tariffs on imports, and making "free trade" agreements are bad things for a country's economy, here are a couple books that will help:

I'm using Nero 7, and I made a CD that has a lot of skipping. At first I thought it was a bad burn, but I made several more copies, but they all have skipping issues. I tried using different media, upgraded DVDR firmware, etc, to no avail. Then I decided to play the mp3's I want to burn within Nero itself, and much to my surprise, IT SKIPS there too! I don't have any problems playing these songs in Winamp, Itunes, or Media Player. Just Nero.
So now I'm looking for another program to use. Suggestions?

Was nosing around Blackfathom Depths/Deeps last night hoping to pick up a party to do the instance, yet there was noone around. Didn't see another player for the 45 minutes I was there. Was I just there at a bad time or is there nothing interesting to be found/had from Blackfathom Deeps?

In all seriousness, I tried BF2 yesterday and it just rocked. Even on big maps, no jerkiness at all, not even when the map is loaded. I can only imagine what this will do to other games such as F.E.A.R. and the likes. Best $100 I've ever spent.

The gym closed again today:

Apparently they're going to start closing every friday at 8:15 to clean the pipes or whatever. I don't know, I was just in the pool long enough to get water in my ears.
So I'm in the library now, and all I have with me is my ipod shuffle. Which sucks, because I wanted to finish the Lost Podcast that I was listening to last night, but the computers at the university don't allow sound. So I was thinking I was pretty bummed out.
Then I realized how awesome I really am. I hooked the shuffle up to the computer's USB port, downloaded the podcast directly to the shuffle, and using the non-itunes program on the shuffle, I can just run the program and the library on the shuffle is instantly built. Score 1 for technology!

Anyways, my parents sent me a package with a bunch of salad dressing in it... I just thought it was cool and wanted to mention how much fun getting packages is, even when you know it is coming. I think I'll start sending more random gifts/things to people once I return to the states.

TLDR, I'm riding a bike from Seattle to Portland (200+ miles) and I'm doing it through a program that raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
it'll be a kickass accomplishment for me to make it to portland, as the first time i've ever ridden a road bike was last week. lol.
but more importantly, the society will be supported by the money I raise [i plan on making a donation of my own as well]s, so hopefully one day there will actually be a cure for leukemia/lymphoma.
it would mean a lot to me if you were able to donate even just a few dollars towards this worthy cause.

I just found out that Match.com doesn't allow emails from paid subscribers to be recieved by non-subscribers. There is also no way to tell who is or isn't a subscriber. So if you send out an email through the site, it will likely be held hostage with the recipient not knowing anything about who sent it. They've turned their service into (in my opinion) a worthless farce. Just want others to be aware of their deceptive practices.
