So Lady Sovereign seems to be the next big thing for rap music. She constantly gets hype and in every magazine I read at work (see: Spin, Rolling Stone etc) I keep hearing about her. I finally listen to her and while I'm not a big fan of rap I kind of like it...its weird. I think its half novelty...white british female rapper...but still. I have a feeling I can start flexxing huge nuts about how she is going to be the next big thing and next thing we'll know she'll hit mainstream and everyone will go googoo for her or something. White female Eminem is around the corner. This is a strange post, but anyone else think she is bound to hit commercially huge and have a single that annoys the hell out of everyone ala Eminem?!

THIS IS HOW COOL THE SHACK IS
I know rosewood from QuakeCon '05 when I met him and some other shackers in line (me being a non-shacker at the time).
Long story short, I keep up with rosewood, and it just so happens that he's in town today and tomorrow. It also just so happens that I want Animal Crossing and can't find it anywhere near me.
So, I get a call from rosewood, who says he's found a copy near Ft. Worth for $25, and wanted to know if he could pick it up for me. I said "shit yes" and so I'm meeting him at an arcade tomorrow where he'll give it to me (I'm paying him, of course).
God I love the shack, and God, I love rosewood.

The one that surprised me is the media support - PS3 will have memstick/SD reader built in for viewing photos on HDTVs/SDTVs. Considering everyone has digicams now, that's a MAJOR feature, possibly as big as having Blu-Ray support IMHO.
Assuming Unreal 2007 won't be all that, I can still see myself buying both consoles (+ HDTV) later next year though. But damn, XB360 is pretty "bare" compared to what it could have been in many ways.

“The industry will take whatever steps it needs to protect itself and protect its revenue streams…It will not lose that revenue stream, no matter what…Sony is going to take aggressive steps to stop this. We will develop technology that transcends the individual user. We will firewall Napster at source - we will block it at your cable company, we will block it at your phone company, we will block it at your [ISP]. We will firewall it at your PC…These strategies are being aggressively pursued because there is simply too much at stake.â€Â
XPC seems to be the highlight. I'll never buy any Sony product. No PS3, no Sony DVDs or CDs, no headphones, no audio systems.

For some reason they can not ship me a new repair box until the previous ticket is closed out, so they told me to call back today. I call back today and give them the refurbished xbox serial number...she starts reading off the error log of the 3 red lights and i'm thinking yeah thats me...only it's not...it's the previous owners. Evidently they didn't fix this POS they just shipped it out to me! Awesome. Oh and they still can't send me a new repair box as the ticket hasn't been closed out yet (no idea on WHEN that might be).
The awesome thing about their support is no one, not even the managers have the power to do jack shit about anything..there's no point in bitching because honestly it gets you NO WHERE contrary to most customer support venues i've dealt with. Usually there's someone at the top that can help you...not so at these places, no one has any power whatsoever to help you out. Which is tottaly awesome. Yay 4 day weekend here i come.

Pontiac Solstice with the LS2 from the Corvette in it. 400 horsepower, 395 lb-ft torque. Plus it's 500 lbs lighter than the Vette. O_o Just about a perfect 50/50 weight distribution too. Takes the 1/4 mile faster than a C6.

Flour dust suspended in air is explosive, as is any mixture of a finely powdered flammable substance with air. Some of the worst civilian fatalities from explosions have been at flour mills.

It looks like someone has gotten that custom XBox controller driver working with the 360 controller (allowing you to do stuff with the controller that the Microsoft drivers don't do, like working rumble in current games, changing trigger functions, etc.)

I don't have one yet (probably pick one up this weekend), but I figured some people might want to give this a shot.
Also, a thread with the current developments of the driver can be found here:

Got a work friend who has given her sons DS's for Christmas. They've been trying to play/share MK and Sonic Rush against each other and have not had any success.
Haven't made the jump yet myself so dont really know, Is it possible to just "system-link" in xbox speak, rather than via t'internet and a wireless router?

But I'm really sketchy on the ram. To build a stock system with no overclocking potential I would basically need say 2 sticks of 1gb ddr-400 right? So if I want to comfortably overclock I would need something like ddr-500/pc4000 ram. Any makes/models people flock to? My choices seem very limited at best. I can't order from newegg unfortunately, since I'm in Canada.

I called my parents the other day, telling them I wasn't going to make it back home this weekend (a 4-hour train ride away) because I was attending a New Year's party arranged by some old classmates. My dad sounded a bit disappointed but he's always encouraged me to go out with friends, and this time was no different.
Remember what you did last year? My dad drove up to the big city to pick me up. We were in the car in the middle of nowhere when I was woken up by some fireworks going off in the horizon. That's when we knew the clock had struck 12 and it was 2005 :)
I can't believe it's been twelve months since. I've switched jobs and started exercising again. Picked up a knack for reading, too.
Is it too early to be posting this? It's almost 3 in the afternoon on a Friday over here and I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed at the sudden end of the year.

The effects and concepts hold up really well after nearly 40 years though. It didn't feel cheesy or campy at all.
The whole HAL9000 part was really cool and kind of creepy, but it seemed sort of secondary to the main plot (whatever the hell it was). Also the movie could have use a bit of editing. 5+ minutes of watching monkeys jump around, a spaceship docking, or a bunch of weird colors swirl past the screen was a bit much.
