Wolfenstein Movie Plans
by Maarten Goldstein, Dec 09, 2005 9:16am PSTThere's a DOOM movie interview on TwitchGuru, asking id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead about the process of getting the DOOM movie made. In the interview, Hollenshead mentions that id is looking to get Wolfenstein made into a movie as well. Thanks to Blues News for the tip.
As for going forward with our own plans, our next order of business is to try to get Wolfenstein made into a movie; I think it could make a very interesting film. The game design for Return to Castle Wolfenstein is basically set up as a film script. Where we'd go from a movie standpoint would be to incorporate a lot of the elements from Return to Castle Wolfenstein along with what we're going to be doing in the next Wolfenstein game that we announced a few weeks ago. It will probably have a little more similarity in terms of the direction of the movie script to the upcoming game.

Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider, Doom, Resident Evil: these were all good movies. Some of them might best be enjoyed as a rental/matinee, but again, such is the way with most movies.
Excellence is not the norm: enjoying mediocrity is the key to life.

I saw no such "official" announcement of the next RTCW game..? (though T.H. had let it slip some time ago)
I really wish they'd use that position to make sure their movie adaptations don't suck.

Bring on id's next game! Can't wait to hear about it... Carmack sooo let us down about that at Qcon..
If you're going to do it, do it right! Stay true to the storyline and get gamers/game developers involved! GIVE US WHAT WILL MAKE US HAPPY: a real science-fiction story, not an all out frag fest!
I'm not sure about this one. I liked the game, but I thought the plot went goofy when it started feeling like a bizzare cross between "The Guns of Navarone" and "Ghostbusters".

I also hope it has a series of unneccesary flashbacks involving Dr. Wolfenstein building a castle of horrors fifty years before the war. Experimenting on villagers and turning them into mutated zombie dragonflies or something.
