I just saw the review for perfect dark on gamespot...

Quotes like "amazing lighting and amazing graphics

made me laugh. Im looking at the video and im like wth amazing lighting is from doom engine. And the graphics from the video and pictures seem pretty low for AMAZing.

game looks pretty though but it seems that the AI sucks like q4 and the models move awfully odd.

Well I got my xbox premium from Costco. What a horrible morning. I waited from 6am and was only 9th in line (they had 24). The people in front of me were all from the last night and they camped. They were all cool and we had some fun just talking for a few hours. Once 9am came, the climate changed at that store. The line regardless of our warnings grew from 18 at 8am to over 50 and probably close to 70, i stopped counting. Since they opened at 10am they were lots of peoples last bets. People began to form another line on the other side of the store entrance. We begged the employees to regulate the line, and they didnt care, they just kept saying first come first serve. Once the main gate opened to the cart area, we moved in mass with the first 12 or so in line, our pile overwhelmed the secondary 9am line and we all retained our places. Soon after they opened the gate and we all rushed in.

The first 12 got the first 12 xboxes, but after that the people from the way back were pushing people over and busting through the 20-30 people directly behind us. I saw a guy that was there at 7am and 14th in line come up empty handed. I was livid. I saw one guy (40ish) that arrived at 9:40 stutting around with his ill-gotten xbox so I asked him if he felt good about cutting in line, to which he replied "I cant believe I got one!!!" What a desprate man. Sad, really. After this I noticed several people who were in the 18-24 range that didnt have an xbox either.

I complained about all this to costco's assistant manager and he reiterated first come first serve, so it seemed he didnt care. How hard would it have been for them to manage that line? Someone could have been hurt in the rush. I'll write an email to them later today. Sad behavior.

I wonder how many people settled for a core system when they intended on getting a premium. I know a few people think that MS putting out core systems was a mistake... but looking at the profit they'll make after selling those HD/component cable/headphones/remote's at full price, it seems like it may have been a wise move after all... given the shortage and all.

So does anyone "in the know" have a clue when stores like target/bestbuy/circuit city will get their next shipments? a few days? a week? a few weeks?

NOTE TO XBOX 360 High Def owners:

PLEASE make sure you switch the plug on your component cables from TV -> HDTV. This makes a MASSIVE difference as you won't be in high-def if you don't.

So is the shortage as bad as everyone was expecting?

If I were needing to purchase one of these newfangled three-sixties on November 30, what would be the most reliable method of purchasing one. Would a pre-order be a good bet with current shipping conditions in the various stores? Do you expect the Wal-Marts out there in the vast open country of America may have a few in stock in the tiny electronics departments?

I'm broke until then, though. So I can't do anything yet :(

So I get off of work and head on over to Walmart. Apparently they've been camping out inside there for two days! So I walked out and headed down to Circuit City. There were four people online outside and 11 xbox 360's (5 premium, 6 core) that just worke din my favor being the fifth one online. Oh shi... :D

I got there at 5PM yesterday... it's 1:18PM now and I'm so drained from staying up all night till 7AM for the vouchers, 10AM for the stores actual opening, and then work at 11AM. I'm at work now.. oh yay! It rained all day, all night, and now all day today... ugh. I also heard the Walmart here had some theft issues and lost 10+ 360's from their trucks screwing over the people on the midnight sale. There was also a mugging in the parking lot for the 360 when one guy went to his car. Hahaha.. oh damn... so tired. But yet so satisfied.

No Pro Evolution Soccer (Winning Eleven for the yanks) = no 360 for kami.

Well, I've played a good bit more Perfect Dark Zero now, and I'm really starting to like it. Some of the missions can get a little annoying, but I am enjoying the gunfighting and the style of the game. It's definitely fun. It doesn't look super amazing in screenshots, but when you're playing the game and it's smooth and you see what all the graphics look like it's pretty damn cool. Still not a huge fan of the artwork, but the game definitely looks good.

I'll write a shackreview when I finish it.

i feel like i was the only one with a ho-hum got my 360 at midnight experience last night. walked in, waited a few mins till midnight with 3 other people who had reserved theirs. came home, hooked it up. pgr3 goodness ensued.

mmmm perfect dark graphics look OK, looks like high end current gen console systems.

Anyone heard of the Xbox360's scratching the hell out of games. I know of one person who happened to wait in line for hours and get home only to find that once they turned the 360 on they heard a quite horrible noise. The noise was something making a nice perfect deep grove in the game. Fun times.

Did you get your 360 from retail or through work? I'm somewhat curious about finding out if I can casually buy one around here but I don't want to go out of my way.

The soundtrack for PDZ is fuckin awesome...not sure where you heard it was maddening?

Woot, my circuit city web order from friday just got here Via overnight FedEx. Now i gotta wait 4 hours to finish off my day at work before i can play it. At least i was able to avoid the lines, worth the 60 dollars shipping IMO

Finally got my PDZ review...lol...I'll wait a few more months before picking a 360...actually, I know Bioware's new baby won't be out for well over a year, which is when I'll probably pick up the 360. Heck, maybe by then MS will ad HDMI output and put in a HD-DVD ROM as well. Probably be the same price as the current premium console, but hell, I just can't see those analog outputs doing the HD justice.

What are everyone's thoughts on NBA 2k6, NHL 2k6, and Tony Hawk? I'm picking up Condemned and PGR3, but I want to find out if there's any others I should consider getting.

Oh yeah. Anyone who grabbed NFS:MW, you should go into the options menu during a race and free roam. Check out the video options for a cheesy, but kinda cool setting.

Just got my 360 setup... wow... that's all I have to say right now, more later.
