DOOM Movie News

I saw it at a Advance Preview last night (won a free Doom T-shirt too), it was alright. It felt more like Resident Evil then Doom though. The best part was the music, very Doom sounding.

TLDR: We have made every effort yo make DOOM: The Movie appeal to 12-year-old nerdboys and embarrass the hell out of anyine with an IQ of over 10.

it's getting pretty tiring watching all these sites hype up this movie, and not say anything skeptical about it. notice shacknews only posts the good reviews and not the other ones that actually tell the truth about how thin the plot is and about how much the movie has absolutely nothing related to doom, other then it is on planet mars. thanks shacknews for being a PR whore. where did the old shugashack go? :(

woohoo! i've got tickets to go see this with id tonight at the premiere

WTF is up with shacknews? There has been so mention of Quake4 either today or yesterday. I expected a major news post which would serve as a talk back thread about the game, but there has been NOTHING... really disappointing.. There was a PR yesterday announcing the release, you guys could have at least posted that....

I read the movie novel for Doom, and I must say it seems pretty neat. Now if it could be pulled off how it was played in the book, then we could be looking at a good sci-fi flick.

Man, from the sounds of it q4 is sounding pretty good. If its the same as q3 multiplayer I am in. I could care less if its the Same ol shit. If it works, it is best not to recreate the wheel.

For those bitching about raven revolutionizing the genre, can shove it. You have to take into consideration this is another developer working on ID's baby franchise, hence it is best not to skew away from classic gameplay. But knowing ID they have a big say in this production, and they somehow skew each of their games to "fee" different from one another, even though the skeleton/ backbone is essentially the same to all their games.

I did not really like q2' single player, hence I am not expecting too much from q4 single player. The last time imo id/raven made a great singler player game was heretic/doom era.

Hopefully this game with the current ut's help maintain the deathmatch gamestyle.

i just don't think the first-person perspective is something that many people are going to find cool. Maybe if I were 12 again, but I'm not sure. I might have called it lame even at that age.
Buckets of gore? that could be cool. I am kind-of excited about the "pinky-scene" with the chainsaw.

Hard OCP had a link to a Doom Movie review that pretty much said it sucked. I can't seem to find it in their archive news though.

Actually I think the camps will be people who have played the game, and are ticked off that there aren't any demons, and they're basically watching Resident Evil 3, people who haven't played the game, in which case the franchise means nothing to them and are just there to see things asplode. It makes me wonder why they're even bothering calling it doom at all.

Doom the movie makes a huge effort to stick to the things that make the game so popular: Except the demons. And all the hell stuff.
