Quake 4 To Bust Punks

It's amazing how many "Anti Cheat Zealots" want to hear no wrong of Punk Buster and it's shoddy coding. Oh god no, it's never ONCE let a cheat get by. In fact, it's SOOOO good, it even catches people who are potential cheaters! Just look at all the people who get kicked for being evil ATI users and having better computers than the rest of us!

I just wish people would pull their heads out of their asses. Do any of you really believe any of what you spout out? Punkbuster crashes alot of computers for people. Granted it never crashed mine... lagged the hell out of it, and not "Just in the beginning of a match" duhuhuh. It lagged the hell out of my computer thoroughly, all the while I was playing.

Does that mean it affected my gameplay? Maybe a little insignificant bit, but nothing major. And what good did it bring? A false sense of security to the whiney little bitches who sucked in the first place? Hmm wait... false sense of security... sounds like a religion. Maybe that's because "Anti Cheat ZEALOTS" are a little on the insane worshipping side. Because I assure you all right now, it never stopped cheating. It stopped public shit like OGC (Yes OGC gave up right about the same time PB did), but it never stopped those who TOOK the OGC code and turned it into a private cheat for their own use.

I bet now everyone is going to think "OMFGBBQ!!! No wonder those guys were so good even on a PB server! Cheaters! Whaaaaa!!!!"

It's sad really... you all waste so much time supporting something that really wont ever make a difference... the only reason OGC came to Q3? Because it already won in the CS battle, and they heard that PB was going to help Q3. It wasn't the other way around. OGC is actually trying to prove to you morons... that PB is a waste of time... it's just too bad none of you have noticed.

The EvenBalance guys basicly saved the online Q3 community. Things were starting to get bad back in late 02 (OGC botting everywhere) before the 1.32 Point Release. PB updates can be a pain yes, you might have issues with getting kicked from servers for using a weird settings, but I've never acknowledged the people who complain about PB. It's well worth any inconveniences you have to endure. I'm really glad id/raven decided to have PB support out of the box. It really shows how committed they are to making Q4 a successful MP game from the start.

Anti-hack software is still software and thus, always mutable. PB is a complete waste of time and has been from day one.

Bleh, PB had a problem with my Catilyst 5.9 drivers, wouldn't even let me on Battlefield 2. Switched over to my nVidia equipped box and everything went over smoothly. Not sure if the preference is with nVidia exactly, but sure is an annoyance.

Oh whell, I probably won't be playing Q4 multi much.

Speaking of which, I was reading the latest IGN Q4 preview, and they said "in eight weeks to the date we will have it in our gritty hands", which was 9/16 (the date the preview was posted). Everywhere is saying 10/11 as the ship date. Oh well...heh..

Hate Punkbuster. Won't be buying this.

PB worked great back in the early CS days. I never had any issues.

Surprised to hear its still around.

I've never had a problem with punkbuster in Quake 3, RTCW/WolfensteinET, or any other game that included it, other than the updates being a pain in the ass sometimes.

PB cant stop cheating. It only makes it harder to write cheats. Its a shame, but atleast its something.

On the bright side its better than StarForce!! (harrrrrrrrrrrr, landlubber, etc. I <3 pirate day)

I never had a problem with PB. It can be argued that it's inclussion in Q3 saved the online competitive community.

I'd rather have punkbuster in this than not. My view is that at least it will ate least deter some cheating.

I've had very mixed luck with Punkbuster thus far (in various games). i just hope it manages to work properly out of the box and actually updates correctly while not completely raping one's bandwidth.

Yay for pbss! The only true way to catch private hacks. Unless of course they use a ss blocker. ;(
