Ageia Acquires Meqon

I think there's nothing forcing them to change the physics SDK. They licensed Meqon and they'll use Meqon. The end.

i am really feeling sorry for the duke4ever team...working on this game is like a curse...i bet they can't wait to get it the hell out the door

(Insert joke about 3DR being adept at changing engines mid development here)

But seriously, there's one thing I don't quite get about addon cards, be they graphics or physics cards. Carmack and Newell both have come out talking about how hard it is to develop for multi-CPU/core systems, but isn't adding a card dedicated to graphics or physics basically the same thing? I mean, say you have a dual core Athlon, why can't you just tell one core to do all the physics, then have the other handle the rest of the game's needs?

Wouldn't this give you mad physics and free up some CPU time on the other core to increase performance of general gamecode and thus be essentially the same as having a dedicated PPU and be even easier than having a totally ceperate GPU or PPU with it's own clock speeds, etc?

I look forward to this middlewar.
