Vin Diesel Is Agent 47
by Maarten Goldstein, Jun 15, 2005 3:06am PDTComing Soon! reports that Vin Diesel will take on the role of Agent 47 in 20th Century Fox's adaptation of the Hitman game series. The xXx star will also be an executive producer on the project. No word on when the movie will start shooting or when we can expect to see it.
"'Hitman' is a project that by the virtue of its DNA can and will reach far beyond its already substantial core audience," [producer Adrian] Askarieh said. "The canvas on which this adventure takes place is something that movie audiences have embraced for the last 40 years. We obviously are delighted to have Vin Diesel on board, too -- he and Agent 47 are a match made in heaven."Meanwhile The Hollywood Reporter mentions that Vin Diesel's Tigon Studios game company might work with IO Interactive on a movie tie-in game which would feature Diesel's voice and likeness.

Now, obviously on a movie made from a game that I had played and had an attachment to, I'd be fuming if they didn't get the casting right. And Hollywood wouldn't care. Big games may sell millions of copies on release these days, but they still can't touch the numbers that the big movies draw.

A friend of a friend of a friend told me that the hitman games were based on vin diesel's real life (although they had to cut back on stuff to maintain a sense of realism), he's coming full circle.
