Late Night Consoling

So with my viewing of Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, I'm on yet another Star Wars kick and this time I'm hunting down all the great games. I think this was spurred on a bit by the Star Wars: Empire at War presentation at E3; that title looked incredibly hawt. I downloaded the demo of Galactic Battlegrounds and was done with it in five minutes. Thank god LucasArts turned to Petroglyph for RTS help. I'm debating whether or not to pick up Republic Commando. I didn't care for the demo but quite a few of you have mentioned positive things about it. Until I make that decision, the Revenge of the Sith game is holding me over. The Collective did a really excellent job with the lightsaber dueling and brought a bit of skill into a Star Wars game. The voice acting is pretty damn good, at least so far. I wonder if they were union actors? ;D
  • Midway Skipping Xbox 360 Launch for PS3's

    [xbox]

Midway CEO David Rucker said that his company will not be supporting the launch of the Xbox 360 but will be there for Sony at the launch of the PS3. However, only one next-gen title from Midway has been revealed and that's Stranglehold. That's not to say Midway won't ever have Xbox 360 titles, it's just that they feel the install base would be too small to support the platform. Zucker reckoned by the time PS3 rolls around, it'll have multiple games released for the Xbox 360.

It'll ship sometime in August.

  • Kutaragi Slams Xbox 360

    [ps2]

Ken Kutaragi made headlines again today with another set of flamboyant comments to Japanese 'zine Impress PC Watch. He says that Microsoft is only improving in the graphics and output resolution arena, stating that "the Xbox 360 is more of an Xbox 1.5 than a next generation console."

  • PS3 Graphics Chip Still in Development

    [ps2]

With everyone still trying to figure out if the PS3 footage shown at E3 is realtime or pre-rendered, we learn that the PS3's graphics chip is still in development. Dubbed the Reality Synthesizer, or RSX, the chip is not yet designed and no silicon has been made available yet, confirmed nVidia's CFO Marv Burkett. Everything shown so far has been running on high-end PC cards running in SLI mode (two cards at once).
