Operation Flashpoint 2 Now Armed Assault

The Operation Flashpoint 2 website is redirecting traffic to the Bohemia Interactive owned ArmedAssault.com, indicating that the game is undergoing a name change. A logo from publisher Codemasters is missing, which might be the reason the game is changing titles. Thanks Blues News. Meanwhile Tiscali Games has some screenshots from the project.

rumor is on the opflash forums that theres actually going to be "1+1+1=3" unveilings. My guess is that since some of the screenshots look decidedly low res without the high quality grass, the oft delayed XBOX version is one of them along with "Armed assault" and a mysterious (oooo) third game.

Looking at the screenshots showing buildings makes it look like they're using the same engine but with updated graphics. The buildings just look too similar (and crappy like they did in OFP1). This does not look good :(

Sweet.

I'm really hoping they fix and improve a lot of the things wrong with Flashpoint. They need..

-Better damage and ballistic models for vehicles so its no longer health points based. That way you cant have your vehicle destroyed by someone unloading 50 small arms rounds into a tire.

-Actual radar and FLIR systems.

-Multiple gun positions/turrets per vehicle. So we're able to use the commander and loaders MGs on the M1 Abrams.

-More vehicle classes to allow for VTOL vehicles and gunships like the AC130.

-Improved indoor areas, AI that can deal with indoor areas and less clipping for the player.

Thats all i've got so far.

wowowowow this just suprassed my expectations (in terms of graphics). If they kept the same type of open ended gameplay and attention to detail (ie: time changes, weather, bullet ballistics, to many other minor things I love, ect) I will personally upgrade my computer to run it better. Even today with the right upgrades/addons opflash is still the king of the military tactical sim genre.

And to think Pcgamer rated it 70% and gave game of the year to ghost recon when it came out. I SPIT ON THEE, PCGAMER
