Prey Announcement

2K Games sends along a press release officially announcing the return of Prey. As we previously reported the game is in development at Human Head Studios, and powered by the DOOM 3 engine. The press release offers no details on the game, you'll have to check out the June issue of PC Gamer (link goes to cover showing an in-game screenshot) to find out more. A release year is mentioned in the announcement though: 2006. Prey will ship on PC and "a next-generation console system".

"The initial concept for Prey had been incubating for a while, waiting for the right opportunity to come along," said George Broussard, President of 3D Realms. "We jumped at the chance to create this game with a talented developer like Human Head Studios and next-generation technology like the Doom 3 engine." Scott Miller, CEO of 3D Realms, added, "Prey is special for many reasons, including several new and original gameplay features and a tightly integrated story that packs an emotional punch, unlike other first person shooters." "Our collaboration with 3D Realms has been enormously rewarding," added Timothy Gerritsen, CEO of Human Head Studios. With their help, Prey is sure to breathe new life into the first person shooter genre with a compelling story, innovative gameplay mechanics and dazzling imagery, which is powered by our significantly enhanced version of id Software's original Doom 3 engine."

Hopefully Sascha will come with something other than AmeriKKKa style songs if they were to still do the soundtrack.

I asked George Broussard about it a few years ago and he told me he'd only recieved some test stuff maybe 4 or 5 mp3s.

weird, Sasha said that they'd finished it years ago. Maybe they got fed up with the lack of progress and Trent Reznor'd
