You'll notice that ATI something called temporal AA which is really a nice driver hack that makes things look even more anti-aliased. However, what I didn't know until today is this will automagically turn on Vsync which can cause choppiness as it scales back and forth to specific rates. Just something you might want to be aware of.
I have an upper end ATI card, the x 800 xl, and turned OFF temporal AA and turned UP hardward AA by one x2 multiplier. With no vsync now on the quality is just as good and the performance is MUCH better, much less choppy in EQ2 for instance.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory: Depth buffer corruption noticed on the ATI RADEON™ X800 PRO is now resolved
Is that really a bug in the drivers and not in Spinter Cell? Do Splinter Cell use the Depth buffer like no other game or something
