Rome: TW 1.2 Patch

Activision sends along a new Rome: Total War patch, which updates the Creative Assembly strategy game to v1.2. The 60mb download addresses various single- and multi-player issues, and also comes with new new developer tools (allowing you to create and script battles, and create videos). The Total War website should be updated with tutorials for these tools soon. You'll need the patch to play online.

The developer tools sure sound exciting, but I wonder what you can actually do with them? If you can import models and stuff that would be extremely exciting. I bet you could do something very cool with an engine as powerful as the one that runs R:TW. But it's probably just scripting, playing with unit abilities, etc...

An American Civil War mod would be cool as hell.

Just imagine the lines of soldiers all loading their muskets, and enemy cannons tearing into them as they march across the field. *drools*

I managed to lose 2 generals in the middle of the freaking Med somehow. I could click on them (well, the spot they were at, anyway), but whenever I tried to pick them up, the game crashed hard.

That little issue aside, though, this is one of the best games I have EVER played. I beat the game as the Brutii, and had a great, great time. I wish I could have kept going!

Is this the patch that makes it stable enough that I can get through the training without it disappearing and leaving me sitting at my desktop wondering if I should ever bother trying to play the game again?
