Star Trek Games Update

9

Viacom Interactive's Harry Lang posted a new message on the Star Trek Gaming Universe forums, offering an update on upcoming Star Trek games. Without getting too specific, Lang mentions there are plans for several new Star Trek games including a strategy one, and uncancelling another. Work on the massively multiplayer game continues as well, with a beta expected some time next year.

While the MMOG sounds crazy difficult, it IS awesome news to hear Trek games are still alive and kicking.

He probably meant difficult to make. This early in the design stage I doubt there's much information at all floating around out there. I wish them the best of luck with it though. They should have much more leeway with storyline & such than what SOE had with SWG so hopefully this will turn out to be a much better game than what SWG turned out to be (for me anyways).

So many things can go wrong with MMORPGs to begin with, but then throwing in a license that people have huge preconceived notions about... well, it's scary to say the least. Trying to keep serious Trek fans happy and make an accessible, fun game at the same time will not be easy.
