Weekend Lookback

Because I have this feeling today is gonna be even worse than yesterday, here's a CNN article from June 96, talking about the original Quake release. How about that huh..heh

It plays much the same as "Doom," but is technologically enhanced. While "Doom" allowed as many as four players to blast away together on a level, "Quake" is now so advanced that hundreds of gunners can play together. "Quake" has been criticized as being one of the most violent computer games ever, but according to Jay Wilbur, the Biz Guy (yes, Biz Guy) at id Software, that's not a problem.
Thanks to the dude in #shugashack who pointed this article out, I forgot your name though, sorry :)

  • Consider the \'true\' costs of swb DSL.

$140 for Digital switch at my location.
$180 for Instalation with 1 year agreement.

That is $320/12 months. That is $26/mo. And you have to pay
that #320 up front. ;) So, thats $50/mo PLUS $26 mo. for a true
cost of $76/mo for the first year.

Any way I go, I gotta pay. And if regular service DSL becomes avail
at my location, I can switch to it for $100 one time fee. and the price
drops to $50/mo. And if SWB drops its price below that, they are gonna \'
    match the swb price.

    DAMN i luv competition. :)

  • #35 DSL might allready be available to you, I went through the same shit.
See bell telephone is a competitor and thier not going to tell you that
covad dsl service practically has every major city wired up through
a company called flashnet! the catch is bell tellephone still owns the phonelines
and covad has to rent from them. hence you have to wait 4to6 weeks for bell tellephone to drag thier sorry asses
out to test your lines, they would rather have you wait for them to do everything instead of using flashnet/covad techs
because once you get dsl from another company you can disconnect your seperate computer phone line
