The problem with picking such a short online nick is that you're likely to see it pop up randomly anywhere, and with games like WoW... that nick disappears fast. Ah well. (Tal). I used to go by Risa but people thought I was a girl, so I switch to Tal and then later find that the Shack doesn't accept 3-letter usernames sooo....
Its weird when I'm writing, and I make up some name or place (that I may have actually heard someplace else) and at some later date some writer comes out with a book (or someone makes a game) and I see the name there. "Risa" is the name of an island in one of Jordan's books. It is a name I made up in 7th grade (long before Jordan published WoT). Illian is a name I had also made up a few years later, and a few years back I see it as a country in one of his books. heh.
Strange how things like that happen...

I've been reading Orson Scott Card's Ender novels recently (finished Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, just started Shadow of the Hegemon yesterday) and these are excellent, excellent books. Great characters, involving story and surprises throughout.
That said, there is one thing that has been bugging me throughout the series and is never explained. There is regular mention of the lightspeed limit in both communications and travel (with the exception of the ansible, of course), but how are they able to travel this fast between star systems? For example, it only took four months to travel to Eros. That would make it faster than lightspeed, since the closest star to Earth is Proxima Centauri and that's four lightyears away. It bugs me that in such a well thought-out series that such a big thing is sort of glossed over.
Or maybe I'm just thinking this wrong. If you travel at, say 99% lightspeed, there will be a relativistic time difference between you and your departure point and destination, where you age only a few years/months while decades or hundreds of years pass on the 'outside'. However this was only explained in the case of the invasion fleet to the bugger homeworld but never when the main characters were travelling. Why would Card have such a discrepancy in otherwise excellent books?

JONESBORO, Georgia (AP) -- On his first day on the job, the new sheriff called 27 employees into his office, stripped them of their badges, fired them, and had rooftop snipers stand guard as they were escorted out the door.

I couldn't force myself to watch the actual debate. I can't understand what could be brought to bear on this other than "Is to" ... "Is not" ... "uh huh" ... "nuh uh."
Rather, the fact that someone would put this on TV as a subject for debate is a more telling thing than the thing they're trying to debate. It's a sign of the end times for society and the rational mind. Good god indeed.

Sure, you slowly gain levels and powers, etc, but you never really *dominate* things at your level...hell, enemies of your equivalent level seem to get stronger as you level up, not weaker.
I know, it's just part of the game, but I think that might be what starts to push me away from MMOs every time I start to get into them.
Whereas, playing KOTOR2, I can and will kill pretty much anyone.
Am I alone in this feeling?
