Think this will be the magic driver that finally fixes the "The ATI WDM Specialized MVD Codec service failed to start " Event ID: 7000 error message that causes my computer to randomly restart? Along with the numbers of other people who wasted their money...

There's a way around that, sort of. Go to ATI's website, click on Customer Care > Find a Driver > (Your OS, Graphic Driver, RADEON Family) > Driver Download and Installation.

Scroll down to the Low Speed (Dial Up) section and grab everything except the WDM Capture Driver. Install the stuff normally, more or less.

The Driver package they link off the front page always tries to automatically install the WDM capture driver regardless of whether or not it actually works with your card. In my case, that leads to a near-endless string of nasty crashes at startup. If I avoid installing that driver and disable the entry it creates in Device Manager, I don't get put through hell trying to fix things.

If you have an AIW or VIVO card and are having the same problem, I don't know what to tell you.
