that thinking stopped when i finally get it reinstalled and discover hl2, hl:s, cs:s, condition zero, codename gordon, pretty much every archived game on the list, has to be redownloaded. i think my inital <3 for steam has been at least slightly tarnished.

Next thing you know, you'll be uninstalling Valve's latest Steam, and suddenly be confronted with a little message box saying "Surprise! We just uninstalled some critical Windows DLLs! You have to reinstall Windows!"
Next thing I know, some moron will come along and tell me that they wouldn't do that, and that it's a completely unrealistic situation... So I'd better mention that I was being sarcastic, and using an extreme, hypothetical situation to prove my point.
