The Battle of the Week: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater vs. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. If you're a gamer with only fifty dollars to spend, which do you choose? Taking a look at GameRankings for the average score... MGS3: 95.5% (2 reviews), MP2: 92.1% (10 reviews). That's close, guys, and no matter which you choose, you win. What seems to be the consensus among reviewers is that Metroid Prime 2 follows the same formula from the original, which makes it just as good as the original. For Metal Gear Solid 3, it returns to its roots and doesn't have you questioning the designer's sanity. Hopefully I'll be able to get to those two titles within the very near future.

Xbox Battlefield: Modern Combat Landing on Xbox 2 Digital Illusions CE, also known as DICE, announced that they will release a next-gen version of their console Battlefield title, Battlefield: Modern Combat. DICE is developing the game to be a launch title for the successor to the Xbox. Interestingly enough, the development of the game is taking place at two studios; multiplayer at DICE Sweden and the singleplayer at Electronic Arts. PS2 and Xbox versions of Modern Combat are still planned for release later next year.
NDS Zoo Keeper Coming Stateside One of those traditionally Japan-only titles is making its way across the Pacific, thanks to publisher Ignition. They have announced they will be localizing Zoo Keeper for a North American audience. The game is a puzzle title with players trying to match up similar tiles into groups of three. It includes wireless multiplayer and you can play with a group of friend with just one copy. It's currently set for a December release.
Xbox Tecmo Goes To Court Again In effort to preserve the sanctity of its Dead or Alive girls, Tecmo has sued another publishing company for aiding users in modifying its games. This time around, they're suing the publishers of PC-Giga magazine, which in a recent issue they showcased details and imagery of a modification to Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball; one where you can make the nearly-naked ladies fully-naked. Tecmo wants an injunction placed and damages repaid.
NDS Find a DS Demo Unit Near You! Nintendo has launched a more robust version of its DS Locator, allowing gamers to enter in their address to find a Nintendo DS demo unit near them. The units in stores feature the basic software that comes with the device; PictoChat and a demo of Metroid Prime: Hunters. Some of the retailers that came up in my search were Best Buy, EBgames, and Target.

Console Game of the Evening: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Pool of Radiance for the NES. "First game that introduced my then young mind to the concepts of character creation and being bored to tears by a video game. Hey, I was 10, I didn't really care about making and playing a half-elf, chaotic good thief. I wanted to see things explode." (submitted by BrodieMan).
