by Maarten Goldstein, Sep 25, 2004 11:29am PDTUnfortunately I failed in my attempt to obtain Call of Duty: United Offensive yesterday. Placed an order online, so hopefully I'll finally have the expansion some time next week. We're having some problems with the FileShack Los Angeles server, so it's out of rotation at the moment. It's probably going to be a few days until it returns, our apologies to those who use it as their first choice server. Also on FileShack
- Shattered Oasis 2.50 to 2.55 Patch - update for the post-apocalyptic UT2004 mod.
- Football Manager 2005 Beta Demo - demo of the game formerly known as Championship Manager.

In an ideal world, the operating system wouldn't have any network services turned on unless you've specifically turned them on. Unfortunately, Microsoft don't seem to agree. It's their loss (well, and their customers' loss...), because it's now impossible to install their current operating without jumping through stupid hoops that shouldn't really be necessary.
Meanwhile, there are GNU/Linux distributions that allow you to install by downloading packages off the internet. Obviously, they don't have any similar problem...
