New NVidia Card @ QuakeCon?

22

To quote HardOCP for digging this up and sitting through an hour conference call.. "Last week we reported (several times) on NVIDIA’s 2Q earnings as well as the string of articles “analyzing” NVIDIA’s shortcomings. It seems that in the midst of all the news of NVIDIA posting a loss, everyone missed the part of the conference call that said NVIDIA was releasing a new card at QuakeCon. The conference call is over an hour long and registration is required."

      WINNER

Why would they annonce a main stream card at QuakeCon? No, they will announce a 6800GT with 512MB memory to claim the only card that can run D3 in Ultra Settings.

Even though 256MB cards can run it "ok"

Damn....I hope so. I'd just return my new 6800 Ultra <still in the box unopened> and wait for reviews.

I did install D3 on my lanbox with a FX 5900XT and it actually seems to run better and look prettier than what the 9800Pro was doing on the gaming desktop. I was going to put the ATI card in the SFF, but it ran the temps up way too hot compared to the 5900.

I jumped into Nightmare mode after the install to give it a quick test run. I got mesmerized watching the monitors in the room trying to see if I had missed some details my first time through the game and the lost guy put a zombiefied smackdown on me before I could dodge. I was dead so quick I didn't have time to be surprised.

      :)
