Far Cry 1.2 Patch
by Maarten Goldstein, Jul 21, 2004 9:00am PDTUbisoft has released the Far Cry 1.2 patch, offering a slew of fixes and improvements for the Crytek first person shooter. And though not mentioned in the readme, the 65mb update adds Shader Model 3.0 support for GeForce 6-series of videocards. Here are some of the changes
* Made the run speed about 15% faster * Made sprint last 30% longer * Adjusted damage to vehicles * Fixed a number of serious issues with headshot detection * Fixed some issues with ladder animations appearing odd to other players * Added quicksave support for single player (still in process) * Fixed a significant number of bugs relating to quicksave (~100 bugs) * Addressed a number of issues with the server list UI * Fixed a rendering issue with Radeon 9600 graphics cards

I have it enabled in the config and obviously the in-game menu... and my refresh rate is 75Hz in games, yet it still gets tecture tearing sine I break 75 FPS most of the time.
Why doesnt it work, am I missing something?
But the little sound crackings and glitches are still around :/ Not so noticeable as before though...

If SM 3.0 doesn't add this, then what does? I thought SM 3.0 was what they were touting so hard in those Unreal 3 vids where they showed the brick walls that looked totally 3D but were just one big flat poly with some fancy shaders on it.

Licensee acknowledges that PunkBuster software is optional and is not a requirement in any respect for using or enjoying games that integrate PunkBuster software technology. Licensee understands and agrees that the information that may be inspected and reported by PunkBuster software includes, but is not limited to, devices and any files residing on the hard-drive and in the memory of the computer on which PunkBuster software is installed. Further, Licensee consents to allow PunkBuster software to transfer actual screenshots taken of Licensee’s computer during the operation of PunkBuster software for possible publication. Licensee understands that the purpose and goal of PunkBuster is to ensure a cheat-free environment for all participants in online games. Licensee agrees that the invasive nature of PunkBuster software is necessary to meet this purpose and goal. Licensee agrees that any harm or lack of privacy resulting from the installation and use of PunkBuster software is not as valuable to Licensee as the potential ability to play interactive online games with the benefits afforded by using PunkBuster software.
I know it's just anti-cheat, but the wording in that is scary, just as scary as the "elastic clause" that was in Microsoft's Windows 2000 SP3 EULA. Considering that I haven't even played FarCry online, I unchecked the PunkBuster box.

High System Requirements
- Computer: A 3 GHz AMD processor or better is recommended.
Does such a thing exist?
and the "Medium" is 2 GHz... do they mean P4 equivalent? ie XP 2000?
