Will getting a performance video card (something in the lines of a high end nvidia or ati) and leaving my mobo+cpu alone allow me to play doom3/hl2/farcry? I have an xp 1400+ and since money is tight, I'm trying to phase my upgrades. Also considering prostitution to help with purchases.

  I'd really try to find out what the top CPU is for that motherboard and figure that into the upgrade as well, unless it's not much of an improvement over what you have now. The 1400 is usable, just, AMD CPU's are pretty cheap so it's probably worth thinking about.
