Just trying to bring up some nostaligia. What are some other PC gaming breakthroughs you remember? There were quite a few from Quake 2 if I remember correctly, colored lighting, the... word I can't remember... interpolating I think it was, of model animations... that ended up giving the rail gun that "neat feature" (bug) of pulsating?

The whole Strogg universe was vastly different to the "quake" universe.
When it comes to single player, Q2 had it all over QW. It was still pretty damned average, but the universe they had fleshed out was entirely different, and undoubtedly better.
It was just, as with Quake 1, an entirely forgetable single player experience.
