Want to know how you can get on my s%@! list? Post a semi-believable hoax for an upcoming Panzer Dragoon RPG. I was lucky enough to stumble on this well after it was confirmed as a fake, but still, the headline was enough to make my heart skip a beat. Take a look at the video...it's not the highest-production values in the world, but it is sort of believable, and if Games Are Fun hadn't already done the legwork I'd have had to work overtime this evening to find a way to disprove it. I just want so badly to believe that we'll see another Panzer Dragoon RPG some day...but the reality is that there's been no indication of any continuation of the series at all at this point, let alone an RPG. But hey, a guy can dream.
Xbox Xbox at $99 This Year? Xbox2 in '05? The latest Game Over column over at CNN/Money contains some quotes from analysts who provide some interesting predictions: namely that the Xbox will drop all the way down to $99 by "late summer" and that the Xbox2 could be released next year. These are just analyst predictions, mind you, and not based on any concrete evidence, but hey, that price drop would be pretty cool.
Xbox Fable Chat on Xbox Live In a novel use of Xbox Live technology, Microsoft has announced an online chat with Peter Molyneux of Lionhead and Simon and Dene Carter of Big Blue Box that will be conducted during a game of Crimson Skies. The chat is scheduled for 7:00 PM GMT (that's 2:00 eastern, I believe) on February 18th, and to join in all you need to do is add the pair to your Xbox Live friends list (Peter's Lionhead1, Simon and Dene are Lionhead2) and wait to see if you get invited to participate.
PS2 Xbox EyeToy Article The Los Angeles Times is the latest mainstream news outlet to post a writeup of Sony's mega-successful EyeToy camera add-on, in an article called "PlayStation 2's EyeToy springs from one man's vision" that's reprinted over at newsobserver.com (thanks Slashdot Games).
GameBoy Advance Afterburner Discontinued GamerFeed is reporting that Triton Labs has discontinued future production of their Afterburner add-on for the first generation GBA. The Afterburner was quite a feat: a physical answer to fan-complaints about the GBA screen, and although installation was said to be extremely nerve-racking, the fact that the device worked was really quite cool. With the GBA SP it's no longer necessary, but Triton deserves a great deal of credit for getting it to market at all.
SEGA! A History of Phantasy Star With Phantasy Star Episode III due in just over a month, Cube.IGN has posted a History of Phantasy Star article, looking back at the complete series. The article is nowhere near as comprehensive as GameSpot's equivalent article, but it's still worth a read if you're new to the series (shame on you!).
Xbox Limited Ed. Xbox in Europe Yep, there's been another limited edition Xbox announced for somewhere other than North America...this time it's a translucent "crystal" system, and it will go on sale on March 14th in Europe, in a limited edition package containing two similarly crystalline controllers.
PlayStation PSX Sales Disappointing? Apparently Japanese retailers aren't nearly as pleased with sales of the PSX uber-system as Sony is...according to Nikkei Weekly (relayed by IGN), 40% of surveyed retailers said sales were below expectations, and that was only one of a handful of other complaints about the system, which also included the lack of promised features and its inclusion of an antenna in, but not out jack.
GameBoy Advance Failed Handhelds Article GameSpot has posted an article looking at the top ten failed handheld systems. Many of these are failed Game Boy competitors, like Sega's Nomad and GameGear and SNK's NeoGeo Pocket, but there is one that pre-dates the original GB by several years.

Console Game of the Evening: Armour Ambush for the Atari 2600. "Excellent successor to Combat. You have 2 tanks in this game and can switch between the two. Makes for some great strategic fights, we've played for hours (recently!). A great "pull out the atari" drinking game." (submitted by dignan).
