I'm not defending devastation. I haven't played it but based on what I've heard I can tell it's pretty average. However, I fail to see how innovation is ever a bad thing. Maybe they failed in what they were trying to do, but you can't argue that the concepts that were talked about in the previews sounded interesting. If somewhere a fledgling game dev looks at one of these concepts and says to himself "hey cool, maybe I could do this better" then this game has served its purpose. The more games they put out, the more 'diamonds in the rough' there will be.
