    I want to like this idea and read the book but the sample chapter is so melodramatic. The paragraph where supposedly Romero comes up with the term deathmatch is just so...corny. Maybe it really was like this :

    "Romero thought. It was like a match, like a boxing match, but the object wasn't just to knock the other guy out or some wimpy shit like that. This was, like, kill the guy! This was a match to the death. He stopped cold. "This," he said, "is deathmatch."

    I'm suprised he wasn't standing on top of a mountain with thunder and lightning in the background. His flowing in the strong wind, voice booming "THIS...IS DEATHMATCH!"
