Silent Hill 3 PC Confirmation

12

Konami sends along confirmation that the PC version of Silent Hill 3 is indeed in development and on track for an October released. You'll need a DVD-ROM though, as that's the format the game will be released on. According to Konami "Series producer Akira Yamaoka worked closely to ensure that the PC game is optimized for the improved capabilities offered by current PC hardware. This includes an aesthetic overhaul, with the PC version of Silent Hill® 3 enjoying higher resolution graphics than the PlayStation® 2 version of the game. In addition, a key feature of the PC game is that players will be able to save the game at any point during play, as opposed to using the red save points found in the console version."

I love when console games being ported to PC they always talk about "taking advantage of the PC hardware" by optimizing it. Bullshit all they do is run it in higher res. Yay for bullshit PR

Reminds me of final fantasy 7 and 8 for PC. It actually looked worse on PC outside of the battles because of the low res grainy prerendered backgrounds. It really stood out in a higher resolution on a monitor.

did you play Silent Hilll 2 on the PC? You can turn on higher res textures is you have a 64 meg vid card, complez fox, and run it in 1600x1200. And you can save anywhere, as well as install the movies off the CD so you don't need it to play. I think that's a pretty damn well laid out port.
