Splinter Cell 1.2 US Patch
by Maarten Goldstein, Apr 14, 2003 1:49pm PDTIt took a while, but the US version of the Splinter Cell 1.2 patch has finally been released. The new version fixes some 3D audio issues, adds a benchmark mode and adds support for some older graphics cards among other things. Thanks Blues News.

Please note:
If you have a GeForce 3, 4Ti, or FX, the game defaults to using a "shadow buffer" mode as a legacy of that proprietary hardware existing in the Xbox game. All other video cards use a "projected shadow" mode. In many areas this can cause a major difference in the visuals.
Long story short: if you want to do apples-to-apples benchmarks, you need to force projected shadow mode by editing the .ini file. I forget which one, but it's commented out and pretty easy to find (look for a semicolon at the start of the line).
