I dedicate this whole entire message thread to those that think ATI drivers are uberstable.

By the way, the whole NV4_DISP loop error in the detonators was EXTREMELY rare (I've worked in a computer store for for several years and installed many nVidia based cards and saw it twice), and easily fixed... so STFU.

nVidia drivers > ATI drivers

What's the point of having really fast FPS if the card isn't 100% stable?

Q: What is this Radeon 9500 -> 9800 thing?

A: During development of Radeon 9800 drivers ATI found a way to increase performance for 9500/9700 drivers too. However they decided not to include these improvements for the 9500/9700 series at this time. They will be included in Catalyst 3.3 if they prove to be stable. To verify the improvements I used 3DMark2001 standard pixel shader test with 6x Anti-Aliasing. This gave me a ~10% increase.

i'm going to lose my mind

i have the computer with my radeon 9100 hooked up to the hdtv
finally got some time the other day to get the right timings in to have HD output work at a bunch of other resolutions

ut2k3 @ 1280x1024 rocks on my HD

so for some god awful reason i decided to install the new drivers, now i cant get anything but 640x fucking working. same timings as before. so i roll back to the 3.1s and everything is still fucked up

corrupted screen is all i get now, not the staticy stuff where the signal isnt correct and the tv doesnt recognize it, the proper timings fix that

wtf

i've had enough problems with ati cards as it is...this isnt helping

umm, weird. when i installed these drivers, i get weird cpu utilization issues... just opening the start menu and closing it takes a lot longer than it did before... i guess i'll have to go back to 3.1s...

maybe someone can help me with a problem. i just picked up a radeon 9500pro today and im having some performance issues. in CS for one my fps ont go above 66, but it drops to 25-30 in a firefight (my config is correct for max fps). the same thing happens in quake but it gets up to around 120 fps. I think i turned AA and anisotropic filtering off, but i cant tell. i dont see an option to just turn it OFF, but i have them both turned to 2x. i have vsync off as well.
