I recently read a post on the official forums that went something like "A little bird who's in the beta told me that thing's netcode is smooth as a silk baby ass on his 512 kbit SDSL." I think that pretty much sums up how I feel about this game.
I totally love everything I know about this game. It seems to take the best parts of Tribes2, BF1942, and C&C Renigade, and combine them into one game, then make said game huge, persistant, and MM. All the screenies and movies make the game look fun as hell too.
But of course there's the technical issues: Sure, the limited beta runs well on an uberDSL, but will the real game play well on an ordinary cable modem? And by well I mean with a good ping, none of this 150-but-steady crap. And will the framerates be there, even with hundreds of dynamics on the screen?
But I think that SOE won't release until they have all that figgured out. What really worries me is the gameplay. What if I end up paying box price plus X dollars a month just to spend 10 minutes gearing up and getting to the battle, 10 seconds fighting before someone 0wnz0rs me, and lather rinse repeat? Will they get the balance right, not just between empires, but also inf. vs. tanks vs. planes? And if there's a balance flaw, how quickly will it be addressed? At least with the way you can un-learn certifications, I don't have to worry about getting my strategy nerfed so much...
Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to this game a lot. Even if it wasn't MM and persestant and huge, it still looks like the kind of Sci-Fi uber-shooter I've been wanting for a long time now. I just hope they can pull it off.

Also, I will absolutely NOT pay to play a game online... wtf is that about anyways? Unless its realatively cheap (less than $20/year) and it must seriously kick ass.
Without Voice Comm, I WILL NOT buy this game. This game is supposed to be team based to a certain degree, right? Well it's damn near impossible to coorindate a team w/o voice comm :(
BF42 needs voice comm (and functioning chat for that matter).
This game sounds like a futuristic BF42, which is fine... it's jsut I hope they make it easy to coorindate with other teammates.
