Late Night Consoling

Thanks to the wonderful phenomenon known as post-holiday sales, I am now the proud owner of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Metroid Fusion and the Phantasy Star Collection, all for GBA. But now I'm faced with an interesting dillemma...do I play them now, or wait for either the Game Boy Advance SP? I've pretty much decided not to import one, since I like to think I can wait an extra month, but whether or not I'm man enough to wait that long to try out any of these games is a whole other story. Of course, helping me wait will be the enormous stack of unplayed games I've got here, and at the same time as the Japanese SP comes out I should be getting my copy of Capcom vs. SNK 2, which will likely take up a great deal of my time. So what are all of you doing? Importing? Waiting? Not bothering at all?

Robotech Online!
Along with their confirmation that Star Trek: Shattered Universe will be coming out for PS2, TDK Mediactive confirmed that they are working on a new Robotech game, which will feature online head-to-head action. Platforms or any kind of specifics aren't available yet, but hopefully we'll know more by E3.
GameCube Unity Formally Announced
It was already basically revealed last week, Jeff Minter and Peter Molyneux formally announced today Unity, their "fabulous journey through a succession of beautiful abstract 3D spaces."

Metroid Movie Info
Gamers.com has posted some more details on that Metroid movie which is currently in development. I can't say I really care one way or another with this one...let's just hope it fares better than Nintendo's other game adaptation, the reprehensible Super Mario Bros.

PS2 Silent Hill 3 Preview
GameSpot has a new preview of Silent Hill 3 online tonight, based on their hands-on impressions of a "small demo version" of the game. There's also a video preview, which is uncharacteristically available for non-subscribers.

Alias Game Coming
Acclaim announced today that they have acquired the rights to produce a game based on the television show Alias. With any luck this will be slightly less confusing than the labrinthine plot from the series.

More Acclaim
Like a character out of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Acclaim continues to assure us that they're not dead yet. Need proof? Here's a look at XGRA, the next game in the Extreme-G series and here's a look at I, Gladiator, an upcoming cross platform action game set in the ancient Roman empire.

GameCube Ikaruga Confirmed (Again)
For like the third time in a month, it's been confirmed that the GameCube port of Ikaruga is coming out in the US. What makes this noteworthy this time around is that there's a timeframe: it will be out here in April.
Xbox Dead or Alive Gaiden
Assuming the game ever gets finished (remember when this was a PS2 launch title? Hah!), it's been confirmed that characters from Dead or Alive will appear in Ninja Gaiden.
GameCube PS2 Hands-on F-Zero, VF:Evolution
Those lucky guys from IGN attended the World Hobby Fair this weekend, and so they have posted hands-on impressions of F-Zero. Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution and Sonic Adventure DX. There are also some new gameplay movies from F-Zero, but sadly they're for subscribers only (I only mention them because they're awesome...if you can see them). Update: look like the whole lot is for subscribers-only. Blame IGN.

I've never been a big fan of Star Trek games...but that's just me.
