Evening Reading
by Steve Gibson, Jan 10, 2003 5:32pm PSTWell then, that was the week right? Pondering going to see Two Towers again just because... I've just got this urge to pay way too much for some crappy nachos and scream out for Frodo. Oh hey look!
- Worldcom thinks their name is shameful? - Wacky auto show pics - Solitaire is the work of the devil Thanks Fark - Online scammers making the cash moneysLastly, looks like we're gonna see another bump in public Fileshack capacity coming up next week, which should make wait times a bit more predictable and one would hope, a little bit shorter. They tend to get down to 0-5 minutes around midnight lately. Oh yeah, people are getting their shirts now!

Yes, they are developing Tenebrae 2.0. Some of the important things about it:
- No more support of Quake 1 BSPs, WADs, etc. They'll release a new version of tenebrae (probably 1.04) that supports these, and will maintain the 1.X branch, but will not add any new features or hacks to the Quake engine. Instead, they're using...
-Quake3 maps, shaders, curves, etc. Tenebrae 2.0 will be completely standalone, so it won't matter whether you own a copy of Quake.
-Possibly (if they have time) there'll be an implementation of a physics engine using ODE, skeletal animation, and "a better name than just 2.0". They may be able to include advanced remakes of Quake monsters, but they're going to check with ID on the legal issues involved.

Me: Well, its nice to have a mouse but what you guys do is text input, so a mouse is kind of pointless.
Her: Well, I am just used to having it from working on my PC at home.
Me: I play lots and lots of games on the computer and I have great mouse skills, yet I still would do keyboard only.
Her: What games do you play?
Me: First Person Shooters, whatever looks fun.
Her: My husband plays a lot of starcraft.
Me: Heh, is he Korean?
Her: Yea! How did you know?!

I've decided it's very cool. If I didn't have so many other programming projects, I'd probably write up a web applet to play against.

just hooked up a 2nd monitor to my comp, had a old monitor laying around so i got a pci vid card and hooked it up . . . unfortunately the colors are all fucked up, everything is purpleish and greens show up as black . . at first i thought it was burnt out, but when i start up the monitor it displays red green and blue fine . . .so i am guessing it is the plug or something in the monitor which handles the input . . .just wondering if anyone knows how much this would cost to fix, or if i could even try fixing it myself by wiring a new plug? thanks in advance

please download the following file. It is song 43 from the metroid prime - "Credits". It is my favourite track, as it is a three minute compilation of all the songs in the entire soundtrack. Great stuff.
Anyway, can you please download this and tell me what speeds you are getting from it?
