So what is Peter Molyneux, the guy who blessed us all with Black&White going to bring us next? He's bringing us SimMovieStudio! Or well, something close to it. The Movies (Thanks VE) as it is being called attempts to encompass the job of running a movie studio dealing with scripts, actors, etc.

The cool thing is, while that movie is being shot, you can carry on running your studio, hire other scriptwriters, actors, etc. By adjusting the three onscreen bars/controls you can change the influence of the movie from tame to really violent whilst the movie is being shot. A movie in the 30s didn’t have much violence, whilst one made nowadays has a lot so you tinker about with it if for each occasion. Options for romance kissing to some X rated bits (this will be censored) can also be manipulated. Will the first female nudity give you a success or will it turn off the audience?

  • Biggest problem with Black and White was that even if your big guy was a Town Conversion Machine, as you got closer to the enemy the people you needed to convert tended to die off during the fighting. Pretty soon you'd have this null zone between you and your enemy with no way to effectively cross it. Combine that with the fact that even if you had direct access to an enemy's temple, you still had to kill all of his freakin followers to raise it, and you've got one frustrating formula. I wonder, did the play testers who tested multiplayer merely have their creatures get together to dance and kiss, and never bother to try to win the game?

I also got burned buying B&W. I'm glad Mr Molyneux is trying new things, but next time I'll wait for the demo.
